FODS Easter Raffle - Friday 15th March 2024

The FODS group is busy once again organising an ‘Easter Raffle’ to raise money for school which will    benefit all of your children.

On Friday 15th March 2024, children can once again come into school in their own clothes! The ‘fine’ for doing this is that they should bring into school with them a chocolate item which will be used to create a range of Easter hampers full of seasonal tasty treats and these will be raffled! Booklets of tickets for the draw will be sent home.

Counterfoils and money should be sent into school by Monday 20 March 2023.

  • Safer Internet Week - Monday 5-Friday 9 February 2024

    Fri 02 Feb 2024

    Safer Internet Week - Monday 5-Friday 9 February 2024

Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on children and young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law             enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to help to create a better internet. Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote in Aintree Davenhill, and          celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year. We would be delighted if you could join us in            celebrating the day by taking the opportunity to focus on online safety with your child, whatever their age.

This year’s theme is all about change and influence online and the ‘UK Safer Internet Centre’ have created a range of pages to help parents talk about these issues and ideas with their child, no matter how much time you have and, in an age-appropriate way. To help you with this, the UK Safer Internet Centre has created some free activities and information for parents and carers which are available at: https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2024/parents-and-carers. Whether you have 5 minutes to start a conversation or hours to spare, there are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with your child.

The official Safer Internet Day 2024 is on 6th February; however, in school we will be celebrating it all week with the theme Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and   navigating change online. The children will be taking part in lots of different activities to         promote the importance of staying safe online.

Each day, we will post a link on the school story to web pages and guides containing useful hints and tips for keeping your child safe online at home.

  • Home Reading

    Fri 19 Jan 2024

    EYFS and KS1 Home Reading

“Reading is the gateway for children that makes all other learning possible.” Barack Obama

This week, we have re-launched our weekly Home Reading Challenge. Reading is important so please aim to read with your child for at least five minutes or more every day to help build their confidence and fluency. Good routines and repetition are key to success in reading.

Each time that you read at home with your child, please tick next to the book on the ‘Reading Log Sheet’ that has been stuck in your child’s Reading Record Book. There is space to write a comment next to each book if you would like to. You no longer need to write the names of the books each time you read.

We will continue to count the number of times your child reads at home every week. Each child that has at least three home reads recorded in their Reading Record Book receives a sticker on our class reward chart. The class that has the most recorded reads at home in a week wins ‘Books and Biscuits’ in the    library. Check the newsletter each Friday to see which classes have won the challenge!

We will continue to give weekly reading certificates for the Star   Reader in each class. The winning certificate holder will bring home their class reading teddy and storybook to share at home.

  • Parents' Evening

    Fri 24 Nov 2023

    Parents’ Evening

We hope that you found the meeting with your child’s class teacher useful. Hopefully, the record sheet that you were given provided you with information to take away and refer to. If you have any further comments and questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

If you were unable to make the meeting, please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange another   appointment - it is extremely important that they are able to meet with you.

I know that class teachers will have spoken to you about your child’s attendance so far this term.  We try to update you regularly so you are aware of how many days your child has been absent from school as we know the impact of missing only a few days. We ask that you work with us to ensure that your child attends school regularly as good attendance goes hand in hand with good achievement.
