Homework and reading books

Please make sure your child brings their book bag to school everyday with their reading books and reading record inside it. Please use the reading record to make comments and sign.

A spelling book with a list of spellings will be sent home each week for your child to learn after October half term. A maths homework sheet will be sent home every week for your child to complete. Please ensure these books are in your child’s book bag on a Wednesday.

It is important that you support your child with each piece of homework and establish routines of daily reading, and other routines with spellings and multiplications etc. Short sessions are much more productive that long ones where concentration is sometimes lost.

Cursive Handwriting

This year we will start using cursive writing, please help your child to write in this way at home and to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and to sit their letters on the line.

PE

During the Autumn term PE days are Monday and Tuesday. This may change as the year progresses. Please make sure your child has a PE kit in school at all times. We will send them home at half term for a wash.

Fruit and Snack

Fruit is available each day for the children at break time. This is usually apples, bananas, pears or carrots. Feel free to send in a piece of fruit for example an apple for break time should you wish.  Please make sure they bring in a water bottle with their name on each day.

Thank you for your continued support.
