MUSIC AT AINTREE DAVENHILL PRIMARY SCHOOL

Music plays a vibrant and valued role in the life of Aintree Davenhill. It is taught both as a discrete subject and integrated across other areas of the curriculum to enrich pupils’ learning experiences. To ensure high-quality and consistent delivery, we use the Kapow Primary music scheme, which supports staff with clear progression, engaging resources, and a broad, balanced curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum.

Singing is a particular strength of the school and is at the heart of our musical culture. All children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 take part in weekly singing sessions, helping to develop their vocal skills, confidence, and enjoyment of music as a shared experience.

We are proud to offer a wide range of musical opportunities beyond the classroom. Children can join our KS1 and KS2 Choirs, which rehearse regularly and perform in school concerts, local community events, and collaborative projects. These experiences help to foster teamwork, commitment, and a sense of achievement.

In addition, pupils have the opportunity to develop their musical talents further through individual instrumental lessons provided by Musical Minds. These 1:1 sessions support children in learning to play a variety of instruments and nurture a love of music through personalised instruction.

At Aintree Davenhill, we believe that music not only enhances creativity but also plays a key role in developing self-expression, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
