Welcome to Reception!

We are the Reception children and are 4 and 5 years old.  We are very lucky to have fantastic indoor and outdoor provision. We work closely with our friends in Nursery.

Homework

We post regular updates on class dojo and set phonics videos for you to access at home with your child.

As the year progresses children will be set a phonics book to read online or bring home a paper copy. These  books will contain text of an appropriate ability so that your child can read it to you.

 

Your child can choose a book from our class library to bring home each Wednesday.  This is a book for you to share and enjoy at home.  We do not expect your child to be able to read their library book.

 

We ask parents to read at home every night with their child.  It’s fine to read the same home reading or library book more than once. Each time you read at home, please record it in your child’s reading diary. 

 

We ask parents to help your child to practice their counting skills on a daily basis.  We will set tasks such as maths games in their portfolio on class dojo.  Some weeks we may also include written work to complete.

Parental Involvement

We use Class Dojo each week to share information with parents about any important events coming up and to give some reminders relating to our curriculum and routines. We will post updates and share your child's hard work and achievements in school in their portfolio on Class Dojo. You can add things here too! Throughout the year there will be opportunities for parents to come into school for shared sessions and to spend time in class with the children.

P.E. Days

Our P.E. day is on a Monday but is always subject to change. Please make sure your child comes in their PE kit each Monday. Earrings must be removed on PE days.
