Sessions run every Thursday after school designed to allow the children to enjoy playing football while looking to improve their skills, team work and positioning during a game.
Some of the boys took part in a tournament organised by Everton before Christmas finishing second out of 10 teams. The team won 8 games and lost only 1 game to the eventual winners.
On a Tuesday afternoon, the girls from Year 4, 5 and 6 have the opportunity to practise football skills. We focus on 4 main skills; passing, shooting, dribbling and controlling. The passing drills focus on the accuracy of pass as well as being aware of surrounding players; the shooting drills are probably the most fun part of football training and is where we focus of quality and accuracy before trying to take a shot under pressure in a match situation. Dribbling and control drills allow the children to improve their close ball control. We are hoping to arrange some matches and tournaments with other local schools as we head towards the Spring and Summer terms.
