To our dear community,
Aintree Davenhill Primary School currently has a vacancy for one governor to join the school’s governing board.
We are looking for a co-opted governor. You’ll be disqualified from this category of governor if you are a parent or guardian of a pupil at Aintree Davenhill, a member of staff or under the age of 18.
We welcome applications from everyone and see the value of the different experiences and skills each applicant will bring to the table; however, if you possess skills and experience in the following areas, we’d particularly love to hear from you:
Experience of working in a school setting
Why become a governor?
By volunteering as a school governor, you can make a real difference to the lives of local children and ensure every child receives the education they deserve. Your voice can influence important decisions for the school, such as how funding is spent, and affect how the school is run. You will also make links across the community by working closely with fellow stakeholders, parents and staff.
We try to keep meetings to a minimum and make sure every minute spent as a governor is worthwhile. Don’t worry, you won’t be asked to come in every week – we hold just four governing board meetings a year on average. Meetings are held at the school and usually begin at 6:00pm and finish around 7:30pm. Sometimes impromptu meetings may be necessary but only in exceptional circumstances and we will try to give you as much notice as possible. You’ll also have an opportunity to join a committee and attend those meetings. We currently have three committees, Resources, Curriculum and Pay and Performance.
Don’t worry if you have no experience of being a governor, or being in a similar role. Our local authority provides training and you will receive copies of all the important school policies.
If you’re interested in becoming a governor, or if you’d like to know more about what governance involves, email Mrs Nicky Williams, School Business Manager. Please note, by registering your interest in becoming a governor you are not guaranteed a place on the board – if there are more nominations than vacancies, places will be allocated via election.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
We look forward to hearing from you!
