Welcome to Foundation 1
We are the Foundation 1 children, you may also know us as Aintree Davenhill Nursery! We are all 3 and 4 years old and we like to learn by play and interaction with adults and other children. We like to be outside running, climbing, digging, and making dens. We also like to learn in a “hands on” way inside too! We learn lots of social skills, rule and routines during our time in F1.
Staff working in Foundation 1
Mrs Clare- teacher
Miss Parker- F1 nursery nurse
Mrs Wilcox- F1 teaching assistant
Mrs Ozcan- F1 teaching assistant
Mrs Godden, Miss Miller and Mr Hutchinson also come in to learn with us.
Topics we cover in Foundation 1
Each year our topics change depending on the interests and needs of the children. The Early Years Curriculum is flexible and adaptable. We still cover topics such as Christmas, Easter, and the Seasons (Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer). We tend to have common interests each year such as: trains, fire fighters, police, hairdressing and themes linked to well known repetitive stories such as “Dear Zoo”, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “We’re going on a bear hunt”.
Visits
Autumn Term
Acorn Farm to see Father Christmas
Summer Term
Croxteth Park
We also visit the local parks and library throughout the year.
P.E Days
We are outdoors whenever possible! Leave a pair of willies in the cloakroom at all times with your name in, always wear suitable outdoor shoes and have a coat with you.
Parental Involvement
We have our “Magic Moments” books which we work on with the children in school and are taken home to enable families to highlight special activities, visits or events that might have happened to the child personally or to the family as a whole. We also have “Book Day” on Wednesday, where children bring in their book bag and change their books with their key worker.
